I’m writing you today to request approval to attend Learning 2019, taking place October 27 – October 30 at Walt Disney’s Coronado Springs Convention Center in Orlando, FL. I am deeply interested in attending, engaging, and participating in this energizing, transformative event.
The world of Business is changing and these changes are driving the ways we develop and deliver training. There is increased pressure to bring products and services to market more quickly, demanding a workforce that is adaptable, and creating increased pressure to quickly and effectively onboard employees – performance support is more important than ever. A multigenerational workforce is requiring us to look carefully at how and when we deliver training. Advancements in automation in the workplace are requiring new and deeper skillsets. And an increase in globalization requires us to rethink our delivery methods and tools. Companies are also placing an increased emphasis on wellness in the workforce, with the recognition that a healthy mind and body increase our ability to learn and produce. We have a multitude of tools and technologies at our disposal to help us solve these challenges, including VR and AI, and a host of platforms and solutions to choose from, but how do we know what is real and what is hype?
I will have a unique opportunity to look at all of these challenges and trends at Learning 2019, where the overall theme is “Business Changes Drive Learning Changes”. There is an exciting lineup of keynote speakers including CNN’s Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta, author Lindsey Pollak (The Remix: How to Lead and Succeed in a Multigenerational Workforce), gamification guru Karl Kapp, industry analyst Michelle Weise from the Strada Institute on the Future of Work, learning innovator Richard Culatta, performance support expert Bob Mosher, leadership author and thought leader Nigel Paine, Learning Technology host Donald H Taylor and event founder and advisor Elliott Masie.

I will have rich discussions with my peers, sharing the new perspectives and insights I will have gained as we work together to put these new ideas in to practice.
Learning 2019 enables Learning professionals from all industries and in all roles to come together, share ideas, and drive change in the industry. Participating in this event will enable me to stretch my current thinking in the world of Learning in ways I haven’t yet experienced.
